NOVELS

I LOVE READING! I LOVE NOVELS! I have spent more than 50% of my pocket money since I was on 5th grade of elementary school on comics and novels. My parents will not exchange my money for novels and comics if they're not bought on holidays.

During 3 months before I entered university, I bought some novels to kill my "boring time" at home.
They're :

1. The Mysterious Benedict Society
This is a children's novel actually. Written by Trenton Lee Stewart. English

After seeing a newspaper article addressed to children with special gifts, eleven-year old Reynie Muldoon goes to a center where he and many other children take a written test with many strange questions relating to logic, bravery, etc. He is the only one in the room to pass this exam, and, after all the other children leave, he is invited to yet another center for more tests. He goes there the next day, and meets Rhonda, a distressed girl who lost her only pencil for the test. Reynie breaks his pencil in half to give Rhonda to use, and Rhonda offers him the answers to the test they're about to take. Reynie refuses this, and walks into the testing area. There, he and many other children sit in separated desks, each getting a test. All of the test questions are impossibly hard Reynie notices, some of the other children even start to cry. But Reynie realizes that each of the question's answers have questions in different part of the tests that give the answers. Reynie realizes it is all just a big puzzle.

Because of the logic and skill he showed, Reynie together with three other children named George "Sticky" Washington, a boy with photographic memory, Kate Wetherall, a resourceful and agile girl, and Constance Contraire, a stubborn little girl who likes to recite couplets, is later invited to the home of Mr. Nicholas Benedict, who presents them all with a task to do. He tells them that by using subliminal messaging hidden in television a man named as the "Sender" can make people believe such things. One example of a hidden message is "The missing aren't missing, they've only departed". Benedict tells them that the one sending these messages is a Mr. Curtain, the principal of L.I.V.E. institute: a school on an island off the coast of their city of Stonetown.

Inside the Institute the children see strange people. The lessons are otherwise repetitive.Communicating with Mr. Benedict via Morse Code, the children uncover the hideous plan of Mr. Curtain, to control the people of the world and imprison his enemies.

The children manage to stall Mr. Curtain's plan, allowing Mr. Benedict to shut down the Whisperer, Mr. Curtain's machine which allows him to transmit the hidden messages. Though Mr. Curtain is still at large, the children share a party together with Constance, who is celebrating her third birthday.

2. Ghost Girl

This is the debut novel from author and filmmaker, Tonya Hurley. Indonesia.

After spending an entire summer planning how to become popular and get Damen, her crush, to notice her, the unpopular Charlotte Usher's life seems to be looking up when Damen is made her Physics lab partner and asks for tutoring. However, her plans come to an unexpected end when she chokes to death on a gummy bear. Charlotte becomes a ghost, invisible to everyone she once knew, and forced to go to "Dead Ed" – a school for dead teenagers – to learn to use her supernatural abilities.

After some initial shock, Charlotte resolves to continue with her plan, using her new abilities to rejoin the living world, even though her Dead Ed classmates disapprove. While spying on Damen with his girlfriend Petula – the cheerleader Charlotte idolises – Charlotte discovers that Scarlet, Petula's goth sister, can see her. However, she is forced to leave to attend a meeting at the Dead Dorm, Hawthorne Manor, where the Dead Ed class are trying to prevent the manor from being sold. At Charlotte's suggestion, they disguise the building as unsafe to scare off buyers.

Inspired by her Dead Ed handbook, Charlotte attempts to possess Petula, but discovers possession is impossible without permission. Instead, Charlotte convinces Scarlet to allow herself to be possessed, gaining some time tutoring Damen in Physics while Scarlet enjoys making mischief as a ghost. However, Scarlet cuts the encounter short when Charlotte impulsively tries out for the cheer leading squad in her body. Charlotte possesses Scarlet again in order to attend a cheerleader slumber party, in return for allowing Scarlet to visit the Dead Dorm. While Charlotte decides that she is destined to share the "magical" Midnight Kiss with Damen at the upcoming Fall Ball, Scarlet is discovered by Prue and her interruption during a viewing accidentally causes Hawthorne Manor to be condemned.

Scarlet returns to the slumber party just as Charlotte is about to kiss Damen in a game of spin the bottle. As Prue uses her powers to scare away the other guests, Scarlet resolves not to be possessed again, but she is forced by Charlotte's promise to continue tutoring Damen. The pair begin to bond over similar tastes in music, and Scarlet's association with Damen makes her style popular. When Damen begins failing Physics, Scarlet, who has begun to like him, asks Charlotte for her help with the tutoring. However, the pair soon become jealous of each other, and decide to ask Damen to choose between them, only to be interrupted by Prue and the Dead Ed class.

As Charlotte is lectured to leave her old life behind her, she decides that if the Fall Ball, now cancelled after Prue's attack on the school, were held at Hawthorne Manor, the building would not have to be demolished – secretly planning to possess Scarlet on the night, as she is attending with Damen. The Dead Ed class agree and help decorate in a Halloween style, and Scarlet convinces the dance committee to change locations, reluctantly promising Charlotte the Midnight Kiss in return. However, Prue and the other Dead Ed kids crash the party, and Charlotte gives up her Midnight Kiss in order to stop them. When Scarlet and Damen are crowned king and queen of the dance, Charlotte surrenders the moment in the spotlight and achieves resolution. Charlotte and the Dead Ed class become visible to everyone, their wounds healed, and they join the dance before finally moving on.

4. The Privilage of Youth

This is the fourth installment in Dave Pelzer's series of autobiography. The book goes more in-depth about adolescence and life out of foster care than The Lost Boy did. Indonesia.

Dave Pelzer's biographical account tells of his teen years as an abused child placed into foster care in California in the 1970's. Currently working at an exhausting pace to spread his message of hope and triumph as a public speaker crossing the country for weeks at a time he recounts the events of his teen years that changed the course of his life. He was rescued in 1973 from a childhood home fraught with abuse, starvation, torture and neglect at the hands of his mother; deemed the third worst case of child abuse on record in California up to that time. Despite the newfound freedom and sense of family he got from his numerous foster families, he was still subjected to bullying and torment at school and in his neighborhoods as he struggled to fit in. Often he would put himself a risk of grave injury doing stupid stunts or taking dares to be accepted by his friends David and Paul. Life was better for Pelzer but still very traumatic as he approached the dreaded age of 18 when foster children are cut loose and must go it alone in the world. Pelzer was determined to succeed, after all he had been put through he refused to be complacent and let life beat him.

Pelzer admits he made poor choices along the way by sacrificing school for working menial jobs to save enough money to make it on his own, dropping out of school to work as a car salesman, and dreaming of a career as a Hollywood stuntman. He was fortunate to have the friendship of two men from his neighborhood of Duinsmoore, Mike Marsh and Dan Brazell, who preached to him to finish school and make something of his life. It was his short time living in this neighborhood that made all the difference to Pelzer and the man he became. It was here in the “Leave It To Beaver” world of Menlo Park, CA that he gained a sense of belonging that he had never known. His story is inspiring and has a positive message for kids who think they have a rotten life whether they are in foster homes or living with their parents. Dave Pelzer's message to value what you have, stay in school, work hard and to give your best effort in everything you do has been delivered to thousands of groups across the nation in his role as a spokesman for millions of abused and neglected children.

8. The Lost Symbol

This is a thriller novel written by a famous and America's Bestselling Author, Dan Brown. Indonesia.

The story takes place over a period of 12 hours in Washington, D.C., with a focus on Freemasonry. Robert Langdon is summoned to give a lecture in National Statuary Hall at the United States Capitol, with the invitation apparently from his mentor, a 33rd degree Mason named Peter Solomon, who is the head of the Smithsonian Institution. Solomon has also asked him to bring a small package which he had entrusted with Langdon for safekeeping years earlier. When Langdon arrives at the Capitol, however, instead of an audience for his lecture, and after receiving a phone call from the person that he thought was from Solomon's office he hears screams coming from the Capitol Rotunda. Running, he finds the severed right hand of Peter Solomon mounted on a stick, directly in the middle of the room. The hand contains tattoos on each finger, and Langdon recognizes it as the symbolic Hand of the Mysteries, which seemingly points straight up to the fresco The Apotheosis of Washington on the inside of the Capitol dome. Noticing Peter's ring on one of the hand's fingers, Langdon realizes that it is the hand of his kidnapped friend, and from messages already received he knows that the kidnapper wants him to find both the Mason's Pyramid, which Masons believe is hidden somewhere underground in Washington D.C., and the Lost Word, which will complete the task that the kidnapper has given himself.

07-GHOST

This becomes one of my favorite manga and also anime (recently). I love this kind of fantasy story. And I also love the characters. Especially the two main characters, Teito Klein and Frau (Zehel). But, I like most of the characters, even the bad one, by name Ayanami. He is cruel but Cool! Hehe.

Unfortunetly, the manga is still ongoing. So, I'm still waiting for the next chapter. Is it really unfortunate?? haha... I WANT to read the next chapter! The anime, on the other hand, has finished. But, it's just half (less than half, actually) from the manga. So, there will be (MUST BE) the next season.. Yipeee!!

THE STORY LINE :

Teito Klein is a former slave who now attends the Barsburg Empire's military academy due to his ability to use Zaiphon, a type of supernatural power. The ability is rare and thus highly prized. Teito is an amnesiac and doesn't remember anything of his past, but he has recurring and often traumatizing dreams in which he sees a grand church or castle and a familiar but unknown man.

After a year at the academy, Teito prepares to take the notoriously difficult graduation exam. The night before the exam, Teito and his best (and only) friend, Mikage, swear they will never abandon each other if either needs help. Both of them pass the exam. The next day, Teito hears people talking about him; stopping to listen, he suddenly realizes that the speaker, Chief of Staff Ayanami, is the person who killed the familiar man in his dreams, who is his father and the king of the destroyed Raggs Kingdom. Teito is found eavesdropping and tries to attack his father's murderer but is quickly brought down by one of Ayanami's subordinates and sent to prison. Mikage comes to help him escape, only to find that Teito has managed to fight past the guards by himself. The two flee the building but are cornered on a balcony. Teito pretends to hold Mikage hostage, threatening to kill him if the guards pursue him, and thus makes his escape, though he is wounded by a Zaiphon blast that Ayanami directs at him. Three bishops in the nearby 7th District discover the injured Teito and take him to the 7th District church to recuperate. Because of the 7th District's law of sanctuary, as long as Teito stays in the church, the army cannot arrest him.

In due time, it is discovered that Teito carries the Eye of Mikhail, a powerful talisman for which his home country, the Raggs Kingdom, was destroyed. This fact, as well as his fateful reunion with Mikage, catapults Teito into a quest for revenge against the Barsburg Empire and for knowledge about his past. At the same time, his status as the bearer of the Eye of Mikhail throws him into the long-standing conflict between the evil Verloren and his enemies, the 07 Ghosts.

MAY GOD BE WITH YOU

CHARACTERS :

Teito Klein (テイト·クライン Teito Kurain) Voiced by: Saiga Mitsuki
The protagonist of the story. His real name is Wahrheit Tiashe Raggs, son of Weldeschtein Krom Raggs, and he is the prince of the former Raggs Kingdom; however, after being entrusted with the Eye of Mikhail during the invasion by the Barsburg Empire, his identity was hidden and he was raised by his uncle, Fea Kreuz, as a church orphan. Upon the death of Kreuz, he was made into a combat slave, but eventually entered the Barsburg military academy and became known as a star pupil.

Mikhail
A god (arch angel) that possesses Teito's body through the Eye of Mikhail. When he is in control of Teito's body, Teito's irises become red and his pupils become slits. He is very fond of Teito, and is put out by the slave collar that limits his strength. Though extremely powerful, he tends to act like a petulant child and often makes undignified faces when talking with the Bishops. Later in the series, the Eye of Mikhail is taken away by Ayanami, but Teito can temporarily pass a link through a spell causing a reaction.

Mikage (ミカゲ Mikage) Voiced by: Daisuke Namikawa
Teito's best friend, Mikage comes from a family of stewards. Despite the fact that his closeness with Teito makes him a target of some students' ill-will in the academy, he remains a bright and cheerful person, sticking with Teito even if others make fun of him. Their relationship as friends involves a lot of Mikage teasing Teito, Teito beating him up in return, and his urging Teito to eat
more. Even so, they are still very close, promising each other that they will die together and will always be "the best of friends". Mikage also teaches Teito about meeting friends and having compassion. After learning of Castor's family's grief for their son, he tells Seilan "Mikage had told me... that if two people were together sadness would also be halved...". Later, Mikage reincarnated as a small, furry, pink dragon. Frau explains its because he wished to protect Teito, no matter what form.

Frau (フラウ Furau) Voiced by: Suwabe Junichi
A perverted Bishop, he saves Teito's life when Teito falls from his hawkzile. He is the member of the 07-Ghosts known as 'Zehel'. He finds Mikage (as a small dragon) for Teito and accidentally becomes Teito's 'Master' when he attempts to remove Teito's promise collar, thereby invoking a blood contract. This collar gives Frau the ability to use three commands on Teito: bind, sleep and pain. For all his teasing, Frau also keeps Teito's spirits up with impromptu pep-talks. His relation with Ayanami is as of yet unknown. Frau is the only Ghost who can wield Verloren's scythe, though how he managed to get this scythe is currently unknown. His catch phrase he says before every battle is "May god be with you".

Ayanami (アヤナミ Ayanami) Voiced by: Hayami Shou
The main antagonist, he is the man who killed Teito's 'Father' in the war against Raggs and seeks the Eye of Mikhail. Not much is shown about Ayanami's past except that he comes from a fallen noble family. Because of his birth, some colleagues dislike him and constantly give him a hard time. On the surface he is respected, as he is greeted by salutes by officers whose ranks are lower than his, but it is also seen that after some officers have saluted, they talk about Ayanami disrespectfully behind his back. In one of the bangaihen in the manga, it is seen that many officers in the army fear the Black Hawks, and Haruse's room-mate even says that the Black Hawks are something that should be erased.

HUSH,HUSH

I got this book when there was a discount "party" at periplus. And this book catched my eyes. The title was unusual. It made me curious what this book was about.. I also like the cover. It's a man with a wing. It seems like a fallen angels. And the fact that he is half nude (meaning : topless). Hehe. And then, I write the review of the book. It's a story between girl (human) and a boy (a fallen angel / a guardian angel). I think it's worth to try a new author. ^^

The Story :

For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch came along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment.

But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure who to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.

For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.

From : http://beccafitzpatrick.com/

This book is quite refreshing. Even though the plot of the story is quite predictable, I like the way of the author's writing. I also like the characters, especially the main characters, Nora and Patch when they were together (in class!!).

Enjoy reading!! ^^

THE LAST SONG

I got this novel for my birthday gift from my cousin ( who is living in Singapore now). It's very nice of him that he still remember how crazy and addicted I am about book. This book is written by Nicholas Sparks. It's all about romance, so I don't think it's a book for a boy.. What I love the most about Nicholas Spark is the expression of love which is shown in the way of the characters solve their problem, spend most of the time together. All the characters seem so NICE!! especially the boy to show their love to the girl (or man to the woman). I might add the fact that I'm a female so I interested in boy, not the girl. ^^
Btw, this novel is gong to be made as a movie in 2010!! It's April 2nd. OMG. I'm so excited!!

This book is about eventeen year-old Veronica “Ronnie” Miller whose life was turned upside-down when her parents divorced and her father moved from New York City to Wilmington, North Carolina. Three years later, she remains angry and alienated from her parents, especially her father… until her mother decides it would be in everyone’s best interest if she spent the summer in Wilmington with him. Ronnie’s father, a former concert pianist and teacher, is living a quiet life in the beach town, immersed in creating a work of art that will become the centerpiece of a local church. In the summer, she also made a guy who happens to be her first and true love, Will Blakelee. The tale that unfolds is an unforgettable story about love in its myriad forms – first love, the love between parents and children – that demonstrates, as only a Nicholas Sparks novel can, the many ways that deeply felt relationships can break our hearts… and heal them.

This is the trailer of the movie :

The other book of Nicholas Sparks which I already read is Nights in Rodanthe. I borrowed it from Pauline. There is also the movie based on this novel, with the same title. I watched it in Blitz Megaplex a long time ago, with Maria and Adi (if I'm not mistaken).
There are some of the movie based on the novels, such as : The Notebook, A walk to remember, Message in the Bottle.

FYI : There is also a movie made based on one of the novels which is going to played in Cinema. The movie is Dear John. Which is played by CHANNING TATUM (Step Up 2) and Amanda Seyfreid (Mammamia). It released this February 5th. I have to watch it!!

This is the trailer of the "Dear John" Movie :

VAMPIRE DIARIES

Since there was Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer, world become interested in the imagination of good-looking vampire. Although what I can accept about this vampire are their 'lovely looking' and that they're a blood sucking monster?!? Haha..
But, I do enjoy about all of fictious stories of the relationship between vampire and human.. It's really enjoyable.. But are we aware, that the fact of that all the vampires are male and the human always female? Why? (It's just a question, so there's no need to answer it. beside, they are fiction, aren't they? So we don't have to think it as a problem here,,)

And this is one of the Vampire movie which I like, since I love the character. They're all suit by my imagination when I read the novels.

VAMPIRE DIARIES

This movie was made based on the stories made by L.J.Smith who is also the creator of Night World. There are four of them : The Awakening, The Struggle, The Fury and Dark Reunion. However, I found the plot of the movie is a little different from the novels. Such as the brother of Elena Gilbert, Jeremy, this character isn't even exist in the novel, but in the movie, he become one of the important character. But, that's not a bad thing since he was played by Steven R. McQueen.. ^^

These are the plot summary of the novel :

The Awakening & The Struggle

The first book introduces the reader to Elena Gilbert, a popular and beautiful high school student in Fell's Church, Virginia (a fictional town possibly named after the actual city of Falls Church, Virginia), and her friends Bonnie, Meredith, and Matt, along with Caroline, Elena's old friend turned competitor. The book is mostly told from Elena's point of view. As their senior year begins, Elena begins dating a new boy, Stefan, and she eventually discovers his secret--he is a centuries-old vampire. As Elena and Stefan fall in love, strange attacks begin to happen in the town while a dark and seductive stranger appears to Elena. He is eventually revealed to be Stefan's older brother, Damon. It is revealed that in Renaissance Italy, the brothers both fell in love with a young vampire named Katherine. Fueled with rage, the brothers killed each other but woke up as vampires. The Awakening ends with Elena seeking out Damon, whom she believes to be the prime suspect for Stefan's disappearance after the townspeople begin to suspect Stefan as the one behind the recent murder of the school's social studies teacher and other strange occurrences.

The second book picks up where The Awakening left off, and delves further into Damon's attempts to win Elena's affections and Stefan's struggle to survive. To find Stefan, Elena seeks out Damon and confronts him in the graveyard, knowing that it will be dangerous. Damon claims he killed Stefan the previous night. But after Bonnie has a vision, Elena and her friends find Stefan in a well, near death. Elena saves Stefan by giving him some of her blood after they all pulled him out to safety. Elena also exchanges blood with Damon, making a secret deal with him she kept hidden from Stefan, and by doing so, ties herself to both brothers as Katherine did centuries ago. While waiting for Stefan one night, Elena feels as if a presence inside a storm is coming for her, and she frantically tries to escape by crossing the bridge over a river. The car she is in veers off the road and into the river, and she drowns. The Struggle ends with the revelation that, because she took enough of the brothers’ blood, Elena becomes a vampire upon her death.

The Fury & Dark Reunion

The third book deals with Elena's adjustment to her vampirism, as well as her confusion over loving both brothers. Stefan finds Elena dead, and believes that Damon was the force chasing Elena. They fight, and in the middle of it, Elena awakens, and attacks Stefan as, Elena viewed Stefan as a threat to her creator—-Damon having given Elena more blood in their exchange--and the brothers stop the fight. Stefan, heartbroken, assumes that her attack meant she loved Damon more, and Damon attempts to clear everything up. After Elena has fed, Damon hides her in Alaric Saltzman's attic. After she has rested she decides to wander in the woods. She ends up at the church where a memorial is taking place. She decides to wait in the attic of the church for Damon to come and find her. Something begins to dawn on her as she waits in the attic. She can see her friends and family in the church and people are talking about....Her! It's her memorial and the whole town has gathered to remember her. Stefan and Damon are alerted by Elena's distress and rush to her side. Stefan arrives first and when Elena sees him she realizes that she loves Stefan more than Damon. Damon arrives as the service ends and Stefan and Damon are soon bickering. They are interrupted by a pack of dogs attacking townspeople outside the church. Elena, Stefan and Damon come to the conclusion that the force that made Elena's car drive off the bridge was controlling the dogs. Their suspicions were proven correct, as it turned out that the person responsible for Elena's death and all of the strange events in Fell's Church was-Katherine. Katherine was furious at the Salvatores for falling in love with Elena. She decided that since they didn't love her anymore she would capture, torture and kill them. Elena manages to break free of her bindings and pushes Katherine into a shaft of sunlight upon which Katherine dies. Elena also gets struck by the sun. Stefan pushes her out of the way but it was too late. Elena had been in the sun for too long. She makes a few "last remarks" (which the brothers agree to) before Elena closes her eyes and passes away.

Told from Bonnie's point of view, the fourth book begins six months after Elena's death, while Bonnie is dreaming (about Elena). At a surprise birthday party for Meredith, Bonnie and Caroline (along with Vickie and Sue Carson) contact Elena using a Ouija board. Elena warns them there is another evil in town, and that they are all in danger. She tells them they need to summon someone but gets interrupted, presumably by the evil spirit, before telling the girls to run. Before all of the girls can get out of the house, Sue Carson is thrown from the second floor balcony and dies. Vickie relapses in to insanity after the ordeal. Following Elena's instructions, Bonnie, Matt and Meredith summon Stefan and Damon back from Italy. They begin investigating the awful events plaguing the town. They discover that Tyler Smallwood, a fellow classmate, is a werewolf and has been in league with Klaus, Katherine'

s powerful and twisted creator. Klaus then kills Vickie, despite the team's efforts to protect her. In a final showdown, Stefan and Damon fight Klaus, and Matt, Bonnie, and Meredith pitch in to fight Tyler. Bonnie summons Elena's spirit to aid them after Stefan and Damon are badly injured. Elena sets an army of ghosts from the Civil War on Klaus, who is destroyed. Elena is now ready to move on for good, leaving this world and Stefan forever, since Stefan has agreed to remain as he is and keep fighting for goodness. But Elena is returned to him, weak, pale, human, and alive. She and Stefan offer Damon a spot with them among friends, but Damon declines, saying that the shadows are where he belongs. Damon then disappears for a long time.

The Return: Nightfall

Elena Gilbert is alive—again.

When Elena sacrificed herself to save the two vampire brothers who love her—the handsome, brooding Stefan and the sleek and dangerous

Damon—she was consigned to a fate beyond death. Until a powerful supernatural force pulled her back.

Now Elena is not just human. She has powers and gifts that were bestowed on her in the afterlife. What's more, her blood pulses with an overwhelming and unique force that makes her irresistible to any vampire.

Stefan wants to find a way to keep Elena safe so that they can make a life together. Damon, however, is driven by an insatiable desire for power, and wants Elena to rule as his princess. When Stefan is lured away from Fell's Church, Damon seizes his chance to convince her that he is the brother she is meant to be with.

But a darkness is infiltrating the town, and Damon, always the hunter, is now the hunted; he becomes the prey of a malevolent creature that can possess him at will, and who desires not just Elena's blood but her death.

NIGHT WORLD

Wew,, it's been long time since I wrote in this blog. I got this kind of "not in the mood" for using my comp. When I looked at my friends' blog, it made me intrigued to write again. Things I've done during my 'hibernation time' are watching movies and reading a lots of books. That's the special things which I get, since I went to a school which located near the mall and dvd store. And I have this BCA credit card so I could get 35% discount at Gramedia. Of course I wouldn't miss that kind of chance.

These are the series made by L.J.Smith, also the creator of "vampire diaries":

NIGHT WORLD

Night World is a series of fiction novels written by L.J.Smith. This novels takes places in a world similar to our own but one where vampires, witches, werewolves and shape-shifters live among humans without knowledge. And there is a secret society known as the NIGHT WORLD, which enforeces two fundamental laws to prevent discovery :
1. Never allow humans to gain knowledge of the Night World's existence, and
2. Never fall in love with one of them ("how could we control our feeling? Impossible! --")

Each volume of the series follows a different protagonist (always a teenage girl) who mus face various challenges involving love, the "soulmate principle" and the Night World's strict code. in the first six stories, the plot focuses on the protagonist discovering her soulmate and the danger which ensues. And in the seventh, the concept of an impending millennial apocalypse in introduced. Although the theme of the "soulmate principle" continued to be present (which is why I love this novels most! ^^), the plot now focuses on the search for four "Wild Powers" who, according to ancient prophecy, will either save the world or aid in its destruction.

FIRST BOOK :

In Secret Vampire, Poppy thought the summer would las forever. Then she was diagnose with terminal cancer. Now, Poppy's onlly hope for survival is James, her friend and secret love. A vampire in the Night World, James can make Poppy immortal. But first, they both musk risk everything to go againts the laws of Night World.
Fugutives from Night World, three vampire sisters leave their isolated home to live among humans in Daughters of Darkness. Their brother, Ash, is sent to bring the girls back, but he falls in love with their beautiful friend.
Two witch cousins fight over their high school crush. It's a battle between black magic and white magic in Spellbinder.

SECOND BOOK :

In Dark Angel, Gillain is saved from drowning by her guardian angel. Only visible to Gillain, Angel will fulfill her heart's every desire. But when Angel starts making strange and sinister requests, Gillain must question who he truly is and where he came from.
Armed with a wooden stake, martial arts, and the will to resist a vampire's mind control, Rashel struggles to avenge her mother's death in The Chosen. Then she meets Quinn, her soulmate, who is part of the world she has vowed to destroy.
Hannah receives notes warning her of incredible danger in Soulmate. But if death is her destiny, is the Lord of the Night World's love strong enough to save her?

THIRD BOOK:

The apocalypse is drawing near. But four Wild Powers can save the world from the impending doom. Circle Daybreak, an underground organization with both Night World and human members, is searching for the four who can stop the darkness (you have to know that the members of this org are the caracters from the previous stories, all together!! ^^)
A vampire hunter-who is half vampire-stalks her own kind to protect humans in Huntress.
In Black Dawn, Maggie stumbles upon an old Night World kingdom where the ruling vampire prince is both an enemy and an ally.
And Circle Daybreak hires Keller, a shapeshifting panther, to guard a new Wild Power in Witchlight. But when Keller falls in love with the Wild Power's soulmate, her love could destroy everything...

THE HOST

I have to admit. This is a good book. I even think that this book is better than Twilight Saga (in many other ways). This book is made by Stephenie Meyer also.
When I read the summary, I really didn't interested. Because sci-fiction is not my favorite genre. And here is the summary :

"Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact and continue their lives apparently unchanged. Most of humanity has succumbed.

When Melanie, one of the few remaining "wild" humans is captured, she is certain it is her end. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, was warned about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the glut of senses, the too vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.

Wanderer probes Melanie's thoughts, hoping to discover the whereabouts of the remaining human resistance. Instead, Melanie fills Wanderer's mind with visions of the man Melanie loves—Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer begins to yearn for a man she has been tasked with exposing. When outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off on a dangerous and uncertain search for the man they both love."

"alien" ,"earth being invaded" really. the first paragraph was made me put the book. I did put the book. But, I thought, It was Stephenie Meyer who made it. SO I decided to buy it. I read it. and then, I couldn't stop! Stephenie Meyer is the best.

Wanderer, which (or who) is a soul invading Melanie's body. Wanderer is really the purest and really kind. Full sacrifice. When Melanie told her to find the one she loved, Wanderer came after him, even though she knew that he wouldn't believe it. But she did it. And she was almost killed from beginning of her meeting with him. But, she didn't argue, just accepted it. She even helped the guy who want to kill him over and over again! And till the end. She still want to sacrifice her life for Melanie so that she could live together with Jared, the guy she loved. EVEN she had to sacrifice her love to Ian, (the human who is really kind, protecting, and unselfish, almost as kind as the soul).

O ya,, the reason why I post this, is because of the cast. The cast which is chosen byStephenie Meyer. This book was not in Movie YET (I hope there is the movie). And imagine that Jared Padalecki as JARED and Jensen Ackles as Ian! I certainly (without a doubt) EVEN there was exam or what, I WILL watch it! Haha.

Btw, Here is the trailer (fan made, of course) :

THE DAY OF REVOLUTION

Surely, Mikiyo Tsuda now is become one of my favorite manga creators.. One of the mangas, titled "The Day of Revolution" is really interesting. I love it. Here is the plot :

The Day of Revolution revolves around a group of friends and their lives as they attend the same high school. The protagonist, Kei Yoshikawa, was a "normal" boy in high school until one day he has a sudden fainting spell at school. Afterwards, a doctor informs him and his parents that Kei is genetically female. When his mother asks "How can this be?" the doctor lists off a dozen different syndromes. It appears that neither the doctor nor the author ever informs the readers of Kei's actual condition. It could be XX male syndrome or pseudohermaphroditism, but from the symptoms it could also be true hermaphroditism with ovotestis. This shocking realization takes his entire family through a loop though in the end brings them closer together when Kei determines that he's going to restart his life as a girl named "Megumi", but it's not as easy as she thinks.

Kei, now Megumi, takes a leave from school for six months in order to have his body worked on in order to appear more feminine. In order to make the transition easier for Megumi, she was sent back a year and started high school off as a new entering first year student. However, there is not enough money to send her to a different school. Upon arrival, she finds that her male friends from when she lived as a boy all start hitting on her once they discover the truth that she was Kei. Shocked at their new behavior, Megumi starts to develop an aversion for all boys which later turns into all out androphobia after a traumatic experience with a former enemy.

This manga is also connected to the other manga which is made by Mikiyo Tsuda also, titled "Princess.Princess". This manga is also great!! refreshing and funny. Make me laugh when I read it. One of the main characters in this manga, also shown up in "the Day of Revolution" become Megumi's boyfriend!! SOOOO CUTEE...
A must read manga!! Score : 5 of 5..
^^
Here are the characters of "The Day of Revolution":

Kei/Megumi Yoshikawa (吉川恵 ,Yoshikawa Kei/Megumi)

The main character, Kei was a "normal", though rebellious, boy in high school who would get into fights along with his three close friends.

However, one day his doctor tells him and his parents that while Kei may appear to be physically male, he is in fact genetically female. He thus starts to live as a girl and even changes his name to Megumi, which incidentally uses the same kanji as Kei. After the change in lifestyle, Megumi still has a problem with the transition from male to female. Even as Megumi dresses as a girl, she still feels more like a boy, and feels more comfortable when around Makoto.

As a guy, he was often told he was cute, which would usually land the person who said it with a clean punch to the face. Similarly, as he starts to live as a girl, he keeps much of the same personality for the bulk of the story and only towards the end does he seem more feminine than masculine. Also, Megumi tends to be very outspoken and even blunt sometimes. After he found about his genetic disorder, Kei took six months off from school in order to have his body worked on to appear more feminine. Upon returning to school, Megumi was set back one year to the first year of high school (equivalent to tenth grade in America) because of all the school she lost and it would be easier for her to not be in the same class as those who knew her as Kei.

Megumi appears in the series Princess Princess, by the same author of The Day of Revolution, as Mikoto's girlfriend, though only references are made about her past life in the manga and nothing in the anime. In the manga, Megumi once feared that Mikoto had something with the other Princesses and that the only reason he is interested in her is because of her past life.

Makoto Yutaka (豊麻琴 ,Yutaka Makoto)

Makoto is Megumi's best female friend who acts as a kind of coach to guide her through the process of becoming a typical girl. She teaches Megumi things such as feminine mannerisms, and speech patterns that only Japanese girls use. She was given this task because of her connection to Kei's doctor and because she wants to become a counselor after high school. She is the niece of Kei's doctor, presumably the doctor who diagnosed Kei. Makoto is also very protective of Megumi, not wanting anything bad to happen to her. She has a very strong personality and uses it to command people around her however she likes. Makoto often uses this trait to coerce her younger brother, Mikoto, into doing things she wants him to do, whether they be for her own benefit or his own.

Like Megumi, Makoto also appears in the series Princess Princess as a minor character; she is still portrayed as Mikoto's sister. In the Princess Princess manga, once Megumi tells Makoto about her insecurities regarding Mikoto's sexual orientation, Makoto tells Megumi not to let him know that. Megumi thought it was because it would hurt his feelings, but Makoto says that she does not want him to know how much Megumi loves him because it would make him happier.

Mikoto Yutaka (豊実琴 ,Yutaka Mikoto)

Mikoto is Makoto's younger brother who later becomes Megumi's boyfriend. He is a rather short guy who is in his second year at an all-boys junior high school. He is usually a very shy person but speaks out with much emotion. Ever since he entered junior high, he's been plagued by other students who treated him more like a girl than a guy due to his appearance and feminine face. He is intensely embarrassed about this happening to him. He took an early liking to Megumi by the pictures of her that were all around his house, which was never explained why. Mikoto even took a few of the pictures for himself, something his sister reminds him about later to the embarrassment of Mikoto. Eventually, he wants to become a doctor and take over the family hospital.

Mikoto appears in Mikiyo Tsuda's later work Princess Princess as one of the series' main characters and Princesses. While the main reason he expresses to object being a Princess (aside from male pride) is the fear that Megumi will reject him if she finds out which could be implying that he sees it as a continuation of the embarrassment he faced in junior high because of his feminine appearance.

Hiroaki Kawada (河和田広明 ,Kawada Hiroaki)

Hiroaki is a former classmate of Kei's who eventually becomes the student body president. He has a lot of traits that fit well for a school president, such as forcefulness and being straightforward.

Shōji Tōba (鳥羽修司 ,Tōba Shōji)

Shōji has a very lively personality and is one of Megumi's main friends. Back when she was Kei, he would love to hug her, much to the detest of Kei.

Tadashi Tachimachi (立待匡 ,Tachimachi Tadachi)

Tadashi is also one of Megumi's close friends, he is usually very silent. He is also rather short, only a few centimeters taller than Megumi.

Kazutoshi Shinmei (神明和季 ,Kazutoshi Shinmei)

Kazutoshi is one of Megumi's friends that she knew as Kei. He constantly smiles and is shown to be the leader of Shouji and Tadashi. He can be very domineering and intimidating at times.

Two drama CDs based on the manga series were made. The first was released in Japan on July 28, 2001, published by Shinshokan. The second came out sometime in 2002. Any idea where I could but the anime?? Haha.. ^^
